Our soldiers fought bravely during the Indo-Pak war of 1999, which is also known as the Kargil war.

Kargil war is an unforgettable event that has been into history forever.

Kargil Vijay divas were initially celebrated to remember the army men who gave their lives in the war against the enemy forces.

The final victory of the Indian Army is celebrated every year on July 26 as it is on this day in the year 2000 that the war officially came to an end with the Indian Army announcing a complete evacuation of Pakistani trespassers.

Bollywood also has done its part with its war movies in remembrance of the glorious battle and the sacrifices the soldiers made for the nation. 

As the country celebrates 20 years of this remarkable victory of Kargil war let's take a look at the movies that showed soldiers and their winning spirit on the big screen

LOC Kargil

This is perhaps the most detailed movie on the Kargil war also has a massive running time of 4 hours and 15 minutes.

The film was directed by JP Dutta, stars Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan and Saif Ali Khan in pivotal roles.

It is primarily based on the operation which was carried out by the Indian Army.


This film is based on the theme of how a person is transformed from a careless boy to a responsible brave man once he enters the Army.

Actor Hrithik Roshan plays the leading role with actress Preity Zinta as the war correspondent.


Based on the Indo-Pakistani war  of 1971 the movie has been filmed and produced by JP Dutta.

Released on June 13, 1997, the movie featured sunny Deol Sunil Shetty  Jackie Shroff.

Tango Charlie

Tango Charlie is a 2005 movie based on the journey of true Indian from a police recruit to a war-hardened fighter in the Indian border security force. The film star Bobby Deol.


Helmed by Pankaj Kapoor the movie is based on the life of Harry, who is an air force officer featuring Shahid Kapoor in Sonam Kapoor in the lead role.

The movie covers almost every major events including the 1999 Kargil war.
