Ever since beef has been banned in the country several unfortunate cases of mob lynching have been reported in various parts of India.

As many as 49 prominent personalities have expressed their growing concern over the cases of lynching in India.

Celebrities including Anurag Kashyap, Konkona Sen Sharma, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Mani Ratnam, and Aparna Sen have written an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 23rd.

They Said "no one has the right to brand any of us or any of the signatories or anyone dissenting as anti Nationals; we are simply doing this because we love our country. We are raising our voices against the secular fabric of our country being ruined, that's all. Because we care because we care about our country that is the reason why we're saying this"

Among the signatories are Shyam Benegal, Riddhi Sen, Ram Chandra Guha, Binayak Sen, Soumitra Chatterjee, Revathi, Shunha Mudgal, and Anupam Roy among others.

The letter talks about India being a peace-loving nation, and as proud Indians, everyone was concerned about the tragic events happening in recent times.

The letter mentions the lynching of Muslims, atrocities committed against the Dalits and other minorities and hate crimes which must be stopped immediately, they also stated how Jai Sri Ram had become a provocative war cry today that leads to law and order problems, and many lynchings have taken place in its name.

The letter strongly urges Prime Minister Modi to take severe action against the perpetrators.

Swara Bhaskar who was recently spotted at a special screening judgmental Hai Kya' starring Kangana Ranaut and Raj Kumar Rao in the lead, also came out in support of the letter written by the prominent personalities.
