Dia Mirza has announced the news of her separation from husband Sahil Sangha.

The actress shared a post on social media saying that she had separated from her husband Sahil Sangha after five years of marriage.

The couple had tied the knot in 2014, and after five years they decided to call it quits.

Dia and Sahil released a joint statement announcing the same.

In the statement posted by dia, they have written that after 11 years of sharing their lives and being together they have mutually decided to separate it says that they will remain friends and will also  continue to be there for each other with full love and respect.

They have further added that while their journeys might lead them to different paths, they will forever be grateful for the bond they share with each other.

In the statement, they have also thanked their families and friends for their love and understanding.

They also thank the members of the media for the continued support and have requested everyone to respect their need for privacy at the time.

The couple has also mentioned that they will not be commenting any further on this matter.

The news has come as a huge shock to everyone, including people in the industry as there were no reports of the couple hitting a rough patch in their relationship.

Also just a few days back dia had posted a happy photo with Sahil on Instagram to wish him on his birthday the pic posted by the dia looks far from any indication of trouble in paradise for the two.

Actress Dia and Sahil, a filmmaker by profession, had dated each other for a long time before they decided to get hitched. 

They first met during a script narration in around 2009 and began to see each other, and it was only in 2014 that Sahil proposed marriage to Dia when they were in New York.

Sahil reportedly went down on one knee in the middle of Brooklyn Bridge and asked the question. 

Dia accepted the heartwarming proposal, and the couple were cheered on by all tourists present there.

The now-former couple does not have any children together, and they own a production house together ‘Born free entertainment.’

Dia and Sahil together had started the production house in the year 2011; their production house made two films; love breakups Zindagi that starred Dia Mirza and Zayed Khan and Bobby Jasoos that had Vidya Balan in the lead role with Ali Fazal.
